When you think about exposing your paintings or drawings to your own home, the first thing that comes to mind is, of course, the classic photo frames. However, there are more creative and interesting ways to make personal artwork visible, even if the photo frames have a classic and tasteful look. Find out more.
Here’s how to display your favorite paintings and drawings:
- Drawings on land
An improvised laundry wire, trapped on one of the walls, can serve as a support for your favorite projects. Place two nails on the wall at the desired distance, depending on how many drawings you want to expose, then grab a nail string in the color you prefer. Hang up the pictures with a pair of laundry pads, which you can also paint so that they match the decor of your home.
- Stunning paintings

- Gallery on the wall
If the decorative style of your home is light industrial or, on the contrary, playful, you can exhibit artistic work on the wall just as you once presented posters with your favorite artists – sticking them with adhesive tape. Cut the adhesive tape into strips longer than the length of the sheet or canvas you painted or drawn, and hold it lengthwise, both up and down. For an industrial look, choose the black or gray adhesive tape and, for a playful look, opt for the colorful adhesive tape. Repeat the process until you get a gallery on your taste. You can see on Facebook more.
- Artistic shelf
If you already have shelves mounted in the house, you can quickly transform them into supports for your art. Support the wall paintings and place them, grouped, on the rack. Alter the colors, textures and picture sizes by putting them in front of each other. This support is ideal for canvas work, but it can work well for drawings on paper.
- Mobile art
Another fantastic idea of displaying your favorite artwork, especially if it’s made on paper, is suspending them on the wall. You can pick a stick of wood that you can turn, with a little skill, into support for your paintings. This accessory looks very well above the bed in the bedroom, with a playful and easy boom look.
Choose synthetic brushes for watercolor technique
A technique appreciated and often used by both teachers and artists is the technique of watercolor painting. In making watercolor paintings, the materials used are very important, from paint and paper to brushes, the wrong choices influencing the quality of the artistic works.
Choosing synthetic hairbrushes
An old saying says, “Not the sword is important, but the skill of the knight.” Although behind it is hidden, without a doubt, the wrong choice of tools can aggravate the work of artists and can affect the quality of the work. Although sometimes blasted, synthetic hairbrushes can give good results. They are even more resilient. Therefore, for color mixing, for example, synthetic brushes with a flat top are recommended. Also, they are cheaper. Not every synthetic brush can be used efficiently, but the market has developed very loud in recent years, so there are many options – you can find synthetic hairbrushes that almost mimic your hair brushes with zibeline or goat hair.
When you buy watercolor paint brushes, you need to be careful with two qualities:
- Absorption quality
One of the reasons why the paintbrush or the goat hairbrushes are so famous is that they manage to absorb a large amount of paint, and then gradually release it, but this quality is harder to meet in the case of synthetic hairbrushes. The latter are plastic and usually too dense, so do not hold water or paint as it should.
One of the qualities of zibeline paint brushes is that they retain their shape but can also be quite flexible. However, many synthetic brushes bring this benefit. To determine the elasticity of the brush, try soaking it in the paint and drawing a thin line first. Then try to apply more pressure and gradually thicken the drawn line. When lifting the brush from the paper, it should return to its original shape. If the tip of the brush remains bent, you must choose another brush.
